REFERENCE ARCHITECTURE

See Mediatrix G7 Series in the complete voice path.

A product decision is only correct when both sides of the interface, the security boundary and the operating model are considered together.

NO PUBLIC INTERNET REQUIRED

Private LAN / isolated IP network

Local phones, a local IP PBX, Mediatrix gateways and Sentinel can exchange SIP calls entirely inside the organization. The voice path can remain on a private LAN, VLAN, campus network or isolated operational network.

OPTIONAL FOR EXTERNAL SERVICES

SIP carrier, PSTN, Teams or cloud

An external connection is used only when calls must reach public numbers, remote sites or hosted services. If the required call path is entirely local, the system can stay on the private network.

ANALOG / LEGACY EQUIPMENT

Legacy PBX

PRI, BRI or analog trunks carry existing extensions and call behavior.

Analog extensions

FXS interfaces supply the line presented to station equipment.

Carrier handoff

TDM or analog service is translated only when the exact interface is supported.

PRIVATE CUSTOMER NETWORK
PRIVATE IP NETWORK / LANLocal SIP signaling + RTP media
INTERNAL

Local IP PBX / call server

Controls extensions and internal routing on the private network. It may remain fully on-premises.

Local calls stay localPhones and the on-site PBX can communicate without a public Internet connection.
OPTIONAL EXTERNAL PATH

SIP service

Provides telephone numbers and PSTN connectivity.

Cloud PBX / Teams

Hosted call control is reached through the correct SIP and SBC architecture.

READING THE DIAGRAM

What the gateway changes—and what it does not

Phone or endpoint
Creates or receives a call. An analog endpoint needs an FXS interface; an IP phone connects directly to the data network.
Fax or modem
Sends data as audio. It must be tested through the complete gateway, network and carrier path—not only for dial tone.
Mediatrix gateway
Converts analog or digital voice interfaces into SIP/IP while preserving validated legacy equipment.
Cloud voice platform
Hosts communications services such as Microsoft Teams Phone or CCaaS outside the customer site.

Conceptual architecture — final topology, capacity and interface configuration require validation.

GATEWAY SELECTION

Match the interface to the field requirement.

Port count alone is not enough. Endpoint behavior, line length, signaling, fax or modem transport, power and carrier acceptance all affect the final choice.

Always validate the exact SKU, interface modules and supported endpoint behavior before ordering or replacing an active line.
